Ingredients
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Nori seaweed sheets
  • Fillings of your choice (e.g. fish, avocado, cucumber, crab sticks)
  • Soy sauce and wasabi for serving
  1. Rinse sushi rice in a strainer until the water runs clear. In a saucepan, combine the rice and water and cook according to the package instructions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Heat in the microwave for a few seconds.
  3. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and fold in the vinegar mixture to season the rice. Allow the rice to cool.
  4. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving a border at the top.
  5. Add your chosen fillings in a line about 1 inch from the bottom of the nori.
  6. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, wetting the border to seal the roll.
  7. Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife.
  8. Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side. Enjoy!
