Ingredients
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24-30 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Whisk constantly until the mixture thickens.
  2. Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then, whisk in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, making sure not to soak them.
  5. In a serving dish, layer the soaked ladyfingers followed by a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top.
  6. Cover the tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to set.
  7. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. Slice and enjoy!
