Tiramisu
Italian
Indulge in the classic Italian dessert, Tiramisu, featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone cheese. This no-bake dessert is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24-30 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Whisk constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then, whisk in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, making sure not to soak them.
- In a serving dish, layer the soaked ladyfingers followed by a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top.
- Cover the tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to set.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. Slice and enjoy!
